Our Cell Units
The Cell Units of the Counseling Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rivers State Chapter, serve as grassroots organizations that facilitate counseling practices and enhance professional development among counselors in the region. These units are integral to the association's mission of promoting effective counseling services and advancing the profession within the community.
Each Cell Unit typically consists of professional counselors, educators, and students who are interested in the field of counseling.
They meet regularly to discuss various topics related to mental health, counseling techniques, and community outreach programs. The Cell Units also engage in training workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns to address prevalent social issues, such as mental health awareness and the importance of seeking counseling services.
The objectives of these Cell Units include:
1. Professional Development: Providing members with opportunities for continuous education and training in counseling methodologies and best practices.
2. Networking: Fostering collaboration and communication among counselors, which enhances the sharing of knowledge and experiences.
3. Community Service: Actively participating in community outreach initiatives to raise awareness about mental health issues and provide support to individuals in need.
4. Advocacy: Promoting the importance of counseling within societal structures and advocating for policies that support mental health and well-being.
Through these Cell Units, the Counseling Association of Nigeria, Rivers State Chapter, aims to strengthen the counseling profession, improve access to mental health services, and ultimately enhance the quality of life for individuals within the community.
